The jazz, blues, powdered beignets, crawfish, spicy sauces, and a lack of Old Bay on their fish po-boys... NOLA! I went there in April for a bachelor/bachelorette party and it was incredible place. (I'd recommend it for adventurous folks 21+ though, for sure.) Bourbon St. lives up to the alcoholic name it implies and there's a reason the street is hit up by a lot of bachelor and bachelorette parties. Ahem.
Canal St. is more for the shopping adventurer and people watchers. There's plenty of unique artwork and interesting souvenirs to be inspired by and purchase.
The vibe between stores is a a rush as live music fills the air at every intersection. Bring cash tips for gratitude to your favorite new musicians and street artists. They'll fill your head and your camera card with plenty of good memories.
There's a ton of haunted walks through town and I went on a tour here with a few friends. It was a lot of fun learning about all of history and lore. Highly recommended.
Overall, I'd go back again, for sure. The people were so lively (a sharp contrast to the drab Mississippi river that runs dirtily near by), food was a 10/10 if you like spicy and seafood, the area was covered with bright colored houses and fashions, leftover Mardis Gras beads, and the music... the music has changed my life forever.
